Our school
A place where kids are allowed to be leaders NOW!
LIA offers a rigorous american education to students in an inclusive elementary school. Inspired by the Montessori approach, we place an emphasis on inquiry-based teaching .
We are rooted in the belief that our students
feel safe and are able to take risks and learn when:
they have competent and caring teachers;
they are taught a well-established and challenging curriculum;
and they are in a child-centric environment where respect and discipline are taught and valued.
Admission
All students have an interview with our admission team as part of the application process. Moreover, students in grade 2 and up must take an entrance exam in math, French, and English.
Technology
Devices
LIA is one of the rare one to one schools in Abidjan: each of our students in grades one and up have access to a device (tablet, chromebook, laptop, or desktop) during school hours. Technology is important in our world and we want our students to understand how to ethically use them so they are better critical thinkers and problem solvers. Screentime is limited for the younger ones.
Mobile Phone Use
At LIA, students are not permitted to use a cell phone from 8:00-3:00pm.
Our Team
Our internationally qualified and certified staff ensures that LIA is in line with international standards, while our frequent professional developments empower our teachers so that our students receive the best education possible.
Accreditation
The school only employs qualified staff and uses the most recent textbook from well established international publishers.
Our parents
Parents are expected to be involved in the learning process of their kid at home and at school. They can volunteer for a host of activities including serving as homeroom contacts; organizers of monthly talent shows for the kids, and facilitating TGIF meetups for staff.
We serve students ages 2-12 (older students are accepted exceptionally)
In line with our motto to serve all kids, we also accept students in grades 6 and beyond who are independent learners and who are fluent in English. Our dedicated staff registers them online at our contact school in the USA, and supervises their performance on campus. These students are expected to follow the same schedule as all other students and they are allowed (and encouraged) to take part in our after school programs.
